We have just completed an MI training programme for over 50 staff in One Hackney.

One Hackney tries to gather all the providers of support to vulnerable adults under one roof. It was heartening to see project workers from a hoarding project alongside, community mental health staff, transport for London staff and council workers all trying to be more helpful in their relationships with hackney residents. And that is all MI is; a communication style that enables staff to provide care in a compassionate atmosphere which makes it more likely for people to open their doors and let professional supporters in. Change easily follows thereafter.
