My regular MI teaching session for the Doctoral students at the University of Manchester, went down a storm.

As well as focusing on the skills of Motivational Interviewing, these sessions support trainees to think about how they might supervise themselves in the absence of a supervisor who knows about MI. In one exercise, I helped the trainees identify what the perfect supervisor looked like. The words they used; compassionate, understanding, guiding, questioning looked remarkably like motivational interviewing. Helpful conversations are important in all walks of life, not just the clinic.
